Premiere October 20th 2016 – Théâtre Public de Montreuil

Original title Tue, haie quelqu’un de bien / Česky Jak bít dobrý lidi

Synopsis This performance is based on the painting The Last Judgment by Hieronymus Bosch. The theme that emerges most strongly from this painting is the functioning of the individual’s conscience within a system of morality shared by all. We tend to let ourselves be guided in life by patterns of moral certainty, and by feelings of guilt from which we try to escape.

The concept of the apocalypse offers us the guarantee that a better, truer world will come, where all evil will have been punished and eliminated, and that there is a paradise for the elect. Believing in the apocalypse means believing that the exercise of justice is not entirely in the hands of human beings.

Do we still live today with faith in a Last Judgment? And if so, why do we need it? What does our Last Judgment look like, staged by and for ourselves?
