Premiere October 5th 2024 at 4+4 days in motion festival. Kolektiv Nesladim.

Original title Štěpení reality

Synopsis Where do my parents’ injuries end and where do mine start? From shards with sharp edges, I compose a picture of reality.

The performative installation for one spectator takes place in two rooms, using video, audio and the presence of one actor. Splitting Reality takes you to both sides of the mirror of a person with narcissistic injury, letting you see into the mind of a person whose own vulnerability distorts their perception of themselves and the world around them.

The collective Nesladim follows up on their last production Love Bombing, which is based on the testimonies of victims of manipulative relationships, and this time looks at the other side of the issue – focusing on the inner prison of people with narcissistic injury, whose adjustment of reality is one of their survival strategies.

Narcissism is not seen here as a disorder, but as a developmental challenge. The installation reflects the transfer of the relationship between the narcissistic parent and the child, who inevitably responds to the personality organization of the parent. We all encounter some phase of narcissistic organization, more or less healthy and important for development, during our own maturation. And it also depends on our background, especially on social and family relationships, how we are going to deal with this challenge.
