Synopsis “Deciding to have an abortion is one of the hardest decisions in a woman’s life. It’s a difficult decision even if she has no doubts about it.” (I. Preslova for Diagnosis F, July 3, 2020)
A short performative lecture on the topic of abortion in the Czech context, accompanied by a staged debate with the audience. We talk about the social stigma that women have to face for the rest of their lives after a voluntary abortion. About the often disrespectful attitude of medical institutions. About the process of abortion and how women experience it, both in a positive and negative way. Any reason for an abortion is big enough if, on the basis of it, a woman decides not to have a child.
With this new project, the collective Nesladim continues to develop the performative potential of liminal theatrical forms. Based on testimonies of twenty women after abortion and inspired by the book Nous l’avons fait (about the MLAC movement in France) by Annie Chemla (Editions du detour, 2024).
